Night Train
"Night Train" is a twelve-bar blues instrumental standard first recorded by Jimmy Forrest in 1951. The composition, based on a riff with roots in Duke Ellington's work, became one of the most recognized pieces in blues and R&B history. It was the fifth best-selling R&B record of 1952 and has been covered by numerous artists including James Brown. The song remains a cornerstone of blues and jazz repertoire.
