The Three Sounds (also known as The 3 Sounds) was an American jazz piano trio that formed in 1956 in Benton Harbor, Michigan and disbanded in 1973. The group was led by pianist Gene Harris, featuring Andrew Simpkins on bass and Bill Dowdy on drums. They recorded extensively for Blue Note Records between 1958 and 1962, becoming one of the label's best-selling acts. The trio was known for their soulful, accessible style that helped define the soul jazz genre.
